Buying a property in Benahavís
Benahavis is a mountain based village nestled in between Marbella, Estepona and Ronda. Only 7km from the coast and around 5500 inhabitants, this picturesque village is amongst the most desirable locations to live in Spain. Benahavis is home to 12 of the coasts' 70 golf courses as well as some of the best restaurants in Andalucia - hence the village holding the title of 'gastronomic capital of the Costa del Sol'.
Originally constructed by the Arabs towards the end of the 11th Century, Benahavis still boasts many ruins of castles constructed by its founders, with the main village itself being the home of two beautiful park areas - ideal for families, dog walkers or anyone wanting to take in the quite simply stunning scenery.
If you take a walk through the town you can't help but notice just how well maintained the entire area is. There are some amazing street front restaurants and bars on the main street and that's without venturing down many of the tiny side streets that come alive at night time, or at weekends, especially for Sunday lunch when the air is filled with the smell of burning log fires!
Exclusive gated villa developments La Quinta, El Madronal and La Zagaleta are home to some of the most luxurious properties for sale in Benahavis, if not the whole of Spain. La Zagaleta is a 24 hour guarded development of around 900 hectares, containing two private golf courses, an amazing golf clubhouse complete with Helipad, and some of the world’s wealthiest and influential people own a property here.
Property prices start from a modest €2.5 for a luxury villa and head north in excess of €28m for a private estate. In fact during 2012 several adjoining plots of land for sale in La Zagaleta sold for just over €50m!
If you are looking to buy a property for sale on the Costa del Sol where exclusivity is key, then Benahavis is arguably the place to be. The town holds the accolade of the richest municipality per capita in the whole of Andalucia, and almost the entire country.
Located mid way between El Madronal and La Quinta is the picturesque purpose built village of La Heredia. Here you will find a selection of the most beautiful pastel coloured townhouses, all with spectacular panoramic coastal views and all surrounding the base of the village, where the local Butchers, Deli/Cafe, restaurant and bar are found. La Heredia was originally developed during the 1980's and was later taken over by a Dutch developer named La Perla. La Heredia is one of the most unique spots on the coast and is a 'must view' destination for anyone looking to buy a beautiful character style property. The onsite Italian restaurant of A'Casa Mia is a must visit, along with the fabulous Dehesa de Al Cuz Cuz restaurant located opposite La Heredia.
500m further down the Ronda Road you and find the entrance to the super popular Los Arqueros golf resort. Originally constructed by Taylor Wimpey during the late 1990's/early 2000's, Los Arqueros has quickly become one of the premier courses on the coast, with year round visitors and a vast and varied selection of apartments, townhouses and villas for sale with quite simply breathtaking views. If you are looking to buy a property on the Costa del Sol with panoramic views and great value per square metre, then Los Arqueros is a great place to start a property search!
