Buying a property for sale in Marbella East

Rio Real/Los Monteros/El Rosario

These areas are all within easy access to Marbella in one direction and to the Airport in the other - offering some of the coasts most sought after apartments, villas and townhouses.  With some of the best beaches in Europe, it is easy to see why these areas have become so popular and so exclusive over the years. 

Rio Real is home to a beautiful beach club and restaurant, Trocadero, which is frequented regularly by the affinity Humberts team. Trocadero have a sister club on the Golden Mile and the soon to be constructed Villa Padierna Beach Resort is just the other side of the A7 Motorway, located next to the Roche Bobois interior design store and the super exclusive villa development of Finca de Marbella.  Located directly next to Trocadero you will find Rio Real's only beachfront development, Rio Real Playa.
There are various championship status golf courses along this stretch of the coastline, as well as excellent commercial facilities.  There are several first class international schools in this area too, along with various sports clubs including tennis and bowling. 
Local health services are provided by the coast's state funded hospital, Hospital Costa del Sol which is situated in Los Monteros and is known as one of the best state hospitals in Europe.
Los Monteros stretches from the beachside where you will find the Los Monteros Hotel and the stunning La Cabane Beach club. This area is mainly occupied by private luxury villas, although there are only handful of apartment developments in this tiny area, crossing onto the mountainside and you will find the Los Monteros Hill Club, Pueblo Los Monteros, Samara Resort and Santa Clara to name but a few.  
El Rosario is again quite a small location, with a handful of apartment developments, crossing from the mountainside all the way down to the wonderful deep sandy beaches.  This is where you find the exclusive Estrella del Mar Hotel and beach club, along with the fantastic Beach House and several other extremely popular beach restaurants.  Back on the mountainside you find a wonderful German Bakery, a supermarket and a fantastic restaurant named Don Quijote.  The head chef here used to run the main kitchen at the super exclusive Finca Besaya restaurant and club in Sierra Blanca (Marbella) and now offers some of the best food you will find on the coast - well worth checking out.
These three areas are in general within walking distance to the beach, but it's hard to find anything within easy walking distance from amenities, meaning a car is usually essential and a journey east to Elviria or west into Centro Marbella/Puerto Banus will be necessary to find day to day groceries etc.
Elviria is a small community located about a fifteen minute drive east from Centro Marbella/Puerto Banus and 40 km west from Malaga Airport.  This is one of the coast's most prestigious residential locations and is therefore well equipped with services, amenities and entertainment facilities.  Many properties for sale in Elviria have been built within walking distance to the beach which is well known for its natural sand dunes and clear waters.  If not close to the beach other properties are walking distance to golf many with panoramic sea views. 
There are two golf courses here, Santa Maria and Elviria Hills.  Santa Clara, Marbella Club, and Rio Real are all golf courses within a ten minute drive towards the centre of Marbella.  The El Casco Tennis Club is five minutes drive away and is fully equipped with modern sports facilities, as well as a popular restaurant and bar. 
Finding a villa or apartment for sale in Elvira that is a realistic walk from amenities and the beach is surprisingly tough - beachside you have some stunning developments, all of which are an easy walk to the beautiful beach and two stunning beach clubs, namely Nikki Beach and the Beach House.  But the walk back to amenities is tough and you will find yourself relying on a car or taxi to pick up the most basic of items.  On the beachside your top developments are Jardines de Don Carlos, White Pearl Beach and El Arenal, and just a  little further along the beach, just behind the Water Park (Aqua Arena - which is a water park in the sea!) you find the sought after Golden Beach.  Also on the beach side is a wonderful 5 star hotel Don Carlos.
If you place yourself on the mountainside, you will be a much easier walk to amenities, but then your walk to and from the beach is difficult, at 640 metres from the main comercial centre.  A good compromise in the area is either Jardines de Santa Maria or Patios de Santa Maria, both of which are a flat walk of around 10 minutes to the comercial centre, and a further 10-15 minute walk to the beach, or around 1.5km.  Others developments in the area include El Manatial, El Mirador de Santa Maria, Los Lagos de Santa Maria, and Las Terrazas, all within a short walk to amenities.  Another good option in this area is Santa Maria Village, however this is not walking distance to amenities but does offer fantastic views and you can find some great apartments for sale here.
Heading up the mountain behind Elvira you will find El Soto and La Mairena.  This really is a stunning location, a UNESCO World Heritage site in fact where building control is extremely strict and views of the surrounding Golf, Pine Tree forests and the coast are pretty much a guarantee.
Taylor Wimpey have been the main developer in this area over the last few years and are still constructing La Floresta, a beautiful apartment complex with stunning views, but around 10 minutes drive down the mountain to amenities and the beach.
There is a main centre to La Mairena, including a German school, restaurant and Tennis Club but it is impossible to live here without the use of a car or taxi.
Cabopino Marina
Cabopino, the coast's smallest and quaintest Marina is located in between Elviria and Calahonda (Mijas Costa), with one of the best family beaches on the coast, some excellent eateries and cafes, and some wonderful villas. Property prices here have really held their ground, as have rental yields.  If you are wishing to be walking distance to basic amenities, a stunning beach and Marina, then this is a great place to start your property search!  However, a car is essential when living/staying in Cabopino, as there is no supermarket or other general amenities located in the Marina itself, so a journey to nearby Calahonda or Elvira will be needed for the daily/weekly shop etc.
