Buying a Property in Estepona Town
Estepona, traditionally a small Andalucian fishing port, is now one of the fastest growing and most popular destinations on the Costa del Sol for tourists and residents alike. The types of properties for sale in Estepona town are mainly apartments within residential developments. Despite covering a total area of just over 136m2 and a population of 67,000, Estepona has still managed to preserve its peaceful town atmosphere. Estepona’s Marina, which was built in 1977, is a large and bustling Marina equipped with all modern facilities. Here you will find a variety of sport amenities such as dolphin spotting trips, fishing excursions and a very popular market takes place every Sunday.
The main beach in Estepona, named La Rada, is one of the best on the Costa del Sol and has Blue Flag awards in recognition of the beach's cleanliness, safety and facilities. Just west of the Marina is a quiet cove named Playa de El Cristo, which is ideal for children due to its shallow, safe waters and is serviced by a beach restaurant, but is within a 5-10 minute walk of Estepona Marina itself. This beach can get very busy during peak season but is a great place to visit outside of July and August.
There are many fantastic properties for sale in Estepona and with its easy access to Malaga Airport, approximately an hour’s drive away, and its easy access to the A7 motorway or the AP7 toll motorway, Estepona is an ideal town in which to purchase a second home or permanent residence. The town planners in Estepona have successfully combined modern architecture with the old and there is a central "Old Town" area full of local bars and restaurants, which is very similar to the Old Town found in Marbella; picturesque cobbled streets lined with whitewashed buildings and bright flowers everywhere.
Estepona is a very large area, but if you are looking to buy a property that is centrally located and within easy walking distance to amenities and the beach, you are limited to a small selection of properties for sale, namely Puerto Blanco (just opposite the Marina entrance), Edf El Faro, Puerto Paraiso, Marina Bay and El Coral to name a few.
